Tiffany C. Li is an internationally recognized scholar of privacy, artificial intelligence, and technology law. Her scholarship has introduced influential frameworks for understanding emerging technologies, including “algorithmic destruction” (a framework for remedying privacy wrongs in AI contexts), “algorithmic shadow” (the lasting imprint of a person’s information on a trained AI system), and privacy as a civil right. New technologies are changing the way we understand privacy and identity. Li’s work explains why—and what we can do about it.

She has written for leading publications, including the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Slate, and a recurring column on technology and privacy for MSNBC. Li is an Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School. She holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an MSt in AI Ethics and Society from the University of Cambridge, and a BA from UCLA. She is a licensed attorney and a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) with multiple certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
